Overlooking the bay of Palermo, the Grand Hotel Villa Igiea is one of Sicily's most famous hotels. It was built by the powerful Florio Family at the end of the 19th century by the Architect Ernest Basile, master of Italian Art Nouveau. The Grand Hotel Villa Igiea boasts jasmine-scented gardens and a pool perched over the sea. All rooms are fully equipped with cable TV and air conditioning. Mediterranean cuisine is served at the Belle Epoque terrace restaurant and by the pool bar.

Hotel information

The building, with its characteristic castle shape, derives its name from the Greek nymph of health, Igiea. It was commissioned by the famous Florio family at the end of the 19th century, at the height of the Belle Époque period. Originally established as an exclusive health centre in an area known for its beneficial properties, it was soon transformed into an elegant hotel. As such, it was immediately favoured by high society because of its sumptuous ambience and distinguished hospitality, along with the balmy Sicilian climate it enjoys. The bedrooms are decorated in the Art Nouveau style with decorations, terraces and balconies overlooking the sea and the garden with its centuries-old plants. Members of the most important families in Europe, including royalty, have stayed in them.

Food & Beverage

• Donna Franca Florio Restaurant, with its terrace overlooking the sea, serves Mediterranean specialities for lunch and dinner. It can seat up to 150 guests. • Des Arcades Bar offers snacks, international cocktails and piano bar every evening. • Sala Belle Époque is the perfect setting for grand ceremonies and gala events. It can accommodate up to 300 guests. • Sala Basile is ideal for receptions and banquets. It was designed by the Art Nouveau architect Ernesto Basile, after whom it is named. The room features original frescos, coffered ceilings and a wrought iron chandelier. It can accommodate up to 120 guests.

Buffet breakfast is not included and costs EUR 19.00 per person.

Cancellation Policy
